Re-imagining Culture: How to (and how not to) build a cultural economy’ is an edited transcript of our first event in May 2010 at A Foundation. The result is an enriching dialogue with speakers John Kieffer, William Wong and Sonya Dyer on the current state of the arts in the UK from governmental to organisational and artist/grassroots perspectives. The discussion begin with the local (micro), but produces lines of flight to the global (macro) – providing a glimpse into the issues derived from personal experiences in the field. Re-imagining Culture takes a look at arts and culture in a broader sense – transcending beyond organisational discourse, the art world and national boundaries to see the possibilities in how we can begin to ‘re-imagine culture’ today.
